Mission Statement

The goal of Custom Newport Tours is to provide our clients with a unique experience of touring Newport, RI.

Our aim is to be both informative and
entertaining so that everyone feels like they have learned something new about Newport and American History.

Ken Gaus

Ken has 10 years of tour guiding experience in the Newport area, including 4 years as a volunteer guide at the Naval War College Museum. He has been active in the business world for over 40 years, was a professor of Finance at Providence College, and likes to include the “economic” aspects of Newport’s different, “Ages” in his tours.

Norman Desmarais

Norman has over 10 years of diverse tour guiding experience in Newport and throughout our state. He is an emeritus professor at Providence College and author of 17 books on revolutionary war history. His colonial walking tours can be given in 18th-century attire. Norman speaks both French and Italian.

How long are the tours?

Tours can range from 2-4 hours for our formatted routes. Customized tours can last 8 hours for all locations if available.

Are the tours year round?

Yes, we can structure tours for any season. Summertime is our busy season so try to book ahead of time to reserve your spot.

How many people can go on the driving tours?

Our transportation service is adjustable for groups of 2-10 people per vehicle. If your party is larger than that, let us know and we will accommodate.

Are there bathroom breaks on the tour?

Absolutely. We have several options for bathroom breaks on all tours and we can accommodate your needs.
